Information for Aupair-applicants to Germany
You are learning German and want to improve your German skills?

Then you should take part in the Au-pair program!
Requirements
To take part in the Aupair-program in Germany, you must meet the following
requirements:
- Aged between 18-24 (if citizen of USA, Australia, Canada, Japan or
New Zealand and new EU-citizen)
- 18-30 (if early EU-citizen)
- Basic knowledge of the German language
- Fond of children
- Be prepared to integrate into the host family for 6-12 months
What the host family will provide for you
- an own lockable furnished room
- "board and lodging"
- pocked money of € 260,- per month
- health, accident and third-party insurance
- the possibility to join German lessons
- 4 weeks payed vacation when staying 12 month, or 2 workdays vacation
per month
- minimum one full day off per week, at least one per month on a Sunday
Your Au-pair Stay
You will work maximum 30 hours per week (5 to 6 hours per day).
Cleaning your own room does not belong to the working time.
The duties of an Au-pair are typically:
- Child caring: Taking them to kindergarten or school, playing, taking
a walk, reading books, washing and clothing them, preparing something
to eat, feeding
- Performing light house work: Helping to keep the family's house/appartment
clean and tidy, including hoovering, washing up, ironing, going shopping,
etc.
- Preparing simple meals
- Eventually looking after pets, if the family has some
- Baby-sitting max. two evenings a week.
An Aupair is not a domestic servant and is not placed in the home simply
to help with household chores.
Under no circumstances should an Aupair do any heavy work.
Expenses/Aupair's costs
- Travelling expenses from your country to Germany and back.
- The costs for language courses in Germany.
- The costs for your personal needs in Germany (clothes, cinema, etc.)
There are no costs for the registration and support from the Agency "Aupair

Entry to Germany
EC/EEC nationals can enter Germany with a valid passport or identity
card.
If you are from Switzerland, Liechtenstein or the USA, you need a valid
passport.
